One store page we opened, in Elizabeth City, North Carolina, listed a deli, floral, sushi, a wing bar, propane tanks and pickup. Store brands include My Essentials and Hannaford. And yes, the lion is called Leo.

Search for "food lion rewards sign up" or "food lion rewards card" and you're really looking for the MVP card. Local news coverage describes digital coupons that you load to your MVP card online and that apply automatically when the card is scanned, and a 2022 trade article credits the program with rewards, digital coupons and exclusive pricing.

The earn-and-burn details matter. An older local news item described monthly MVP rewards that load onto the card and come off automatically at the next trip, and said they excluded tobacco, alcohol, prescriptions and gift cards. That article is old, so read the current terms in the app. The same report said Food Lion didn't double coupons, and that you couldn't stack a store coupon and a manufacturer coupon on one item. A 2022 trade article added that Food Lion runs weekly sales, buy-two-get-one deals and "Dollar Days" events.
