The company's weekly ad page is built around your selected store, and it carries a plain warning that prices, promotions and availability can vary by store and online. It doesn't publish a release weekday. Editions listed on AdsSOS usually start on a Monday, and the current main edition covers October 19 to October 25, 2026, at 48 pages.

Searches for "hy-vee perks," "hy-vee perks plus membership" and "hy-vee fuel saver" all point at the same system. Per the official terms, Perks is free, you have to be at least 14, and you need to activate your card and scan it at checkout. Rewards come as fuel discounts, member prices, free items or sweepstakes entries, and they can't be turned into cash.

Fuel discount rules worth knowing

• A fuel discount expires 30 days after you buy the qualifying item, at 11:59:59 p.m. local time.
• One redemption covers up to 20 gallons and one vehicle.
• Unused value rolls forward to your next fill-up, as long as it's inside that 30-day window.
• It works on gasoline or diesel at Hy-Vee Fast and Fresh and Hy-Vee Gas, plus participating Casey's, Shell and Sinclair stations.

Some things don't earn rewards: alcohol, tobacco, gift cards, lottery, postage, money orders and Joe Fresh clothing are on the list. California residents aren't eligible, and Wisconsin members with a Wisconsin "My Hy-Vee" store have a supplemental option to convert fuel discounts into store credit. Loyalty schemes, app features and delivery options can differ by branch and by region. The retailer's own channels show the current terms for your area.

Does Hy-Vee price match? Returns, guarantees and help

Policies on returns, refunds and price matching vary by retailer, branch and product type, and local consumer-protection rules apply on top. Keep your receipt and ask at the customer-service desk before you buy. The Customer Care page doesn't answer return or price-match questions either; its only listed item close to returns is about spoiled or imperfect products. Customer Care is staffed Monday through Friday 7 a.m. to 7 p.m. Central and weekends 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Central, excluding holidays.

One narrower fact we did confirm: several Simply Done store-brand product pages carry a satisfaction guarantee, a full refund if you aren't completely happy. That's tied to the product, not a store-wide rule. Joe Fresh online orders have their own page, with mail-back returns within 30 days with tags and invoice. For anything else, ask at the service desk.

Hy-Vee hours: Sunday, holidays and "is Hy-Vee open on Labor Day"

There isn't one chain-wide schedule. The company points shoppers to the store pages for local times, and the help page doesn't list holiday hours. Searches like "what time does hy-vee pharmacy close" and "is hy-vee pharmacy open on sunday" are really store-by-store questions, so treat your own location page as the answer.

Thanksgiving is the one holiday with a clear pattern. Hy-Vee first closed all stores on Thanksgiving Day in 2022, a first in its 92-year history, and local news said grocery stores, Dollar Fresh Markets, Fast and Fresh locations and its wine and spirits stores would be shut. Pay-at-the-pump fuel stays available at Fast and Fresh, and holiday meal pickups have run from 8 to 11 a.m.

Who is behind Hy-Vee? Ownership, size and the name

Charles Hyde and David Vredenburg opened a small general store in Beaconsfield, Iowa, in 1930; the name Hy-Vee, a blend of their surnames, arrived in 1952. Headquarters are in West Des Moines. The company calls itself employee-owned: Hy-Vee says more than 45,000 employees hold shares through the 401(k) plan, while officers and store directors own stock directly. Its own figures cite more than 540 business units in nine Midwestern states, over 75,000 employees and more than $14 billion in annual sales. Wikipedia lists Iowa, Illinois, Kansas, Minnesota, Missouri, Nebraska, South Dakota and Wisconsin, and says Indiana joined after the 2024 Strack and Van Til deal. Store counts vary between sources, so use these as approximate.

Private label goes back to 1956, according to Wikipedia, and the store-brand shelf now includes Simply Done. Aisles Online, the pickup and delivery service, launched across stores in 2015.
