Weekly Offers in Nigeria: how it works

Nigeria does not run on one national supermarket flyer the way some countries do. Shopping here splits across open markets, neighbourhood shops, a smaller set of formal supermarkets, and a fast-growing group of online marketplaces. AdsSOS scans the weekly Offers that those retailers publish and puts them in one place, so you can decide where to go before you spend fuel and time in traffic. Think of it as a quick look at the deals before you head out.

Words you will see

On this site we say Offers for the weekly promotions. Shoppers on the ground say deals, price list and sale, and the search habits show it: people type a store name plus price list, or a store name plus a district such as Lekki, Ikeja or Abuja. Online, the big seasonal word is Black Friday, and Konga even brands its own version as Yakata. Keep these in mind when you read a store page, because the same product can be called a deal in one place and a promo in another, and the label tells you little about the saving. What matters is the seller, the date and the conditions. A weekly Offers page also helps you plan a route, so you can split a shopping trip between two chains when each has something you need, and skip a trip altogether when nothing on the page matches your list. Planning like this matters in cities where a short journey can eat a morning.

The supermarket side

The Supermarkets hub collects the physical grocers. Spar Nigeria is a local operator under a SPAR International licence and has an app and a reported Glovo link in Lagos and Abuja. Justrite supermarket has traded since 2000 and documents a checkout loyalty card. Prince Ebeano Supermarket publishes Sunday hours from 12 noon to 9:00pm. CMart Supermarket sits in Lekki Phase 1, and Supermart Lagos leans on same-day Lagos delivery. Different formats, so compare like with like.

The online side

The Discount and General Merchandise hub is really a hub of marketplaces. Jumia Nigeria, Konga Nigeria and Jiji classifieds run campaigns around Black Friday rather than printed weekly brochures. In 2025, Nigerian press described Jumia's campaign from 31 October to 1 December and Konga Yakata through November. We have not seen confirmed 2026 dates, so watch the platforms themselves. Jiji is a classifieds site where you deal with sellers directly, so inspect before you pay.

Beauty and catalogue selling

Oriflame Nigeria is a different animal again. It sells through independent beauty entrepreneurs, and its Nigeria support centre explains returns separately for service-point orders and home delivery claims. Shoppers search for the Oriflame catalogue, so it appears here even though it is not a supermarket.

Know your rights when a price looks wrong

Nigeria's consumer authority, the FCCPC, has said that shelf prices which differ from till prices are misleading and deceptive under the regulations, and that it does not set prices itself. An earlier warning to supermarkets also named refusing returned items, fake goods and missing shelf life information. So check tags, check receipts, and keep your proof.

Rhythm of the year

The one calendar moment we can source is the online Black Friday stretch in November, which Nigerian outlets described as a month-long affair in 2025. For supermarkets, opening hours differ by chain, and we did not find a verified holiday-trading calendar, so call the branch before a public holiday run. In this market, plans change fast: Shoprite said in 2020 that it was weighing a sale of its Nigerian business after 15 years in the country.

A quick way to use AdsSOS

Pick the format first. Want groceries from a shop near you? Start with Justrite, Spar or Prince Ebeano. Want delivery in Lagos? Look at Supermart. Want a phone, appliance or fashion item? Compare Jumia, Konga and Jiji side by side. Then check the receipt, the seller and the return page. A good deal is one you can trust.
