How a British leaflet week actually runs

There is no single day on which Britain's shops decide to tell you about their offers. Some leaflets turn up on a Thursday, others on a Wednesday, a few on whatever schedule the brochure printer has agreed. We scan what is published, line it up by retailer and let you flick through. Editions listed here for Lidl usually start on a Thursday, B&Q and Ford on a Wednesday, Oriflame on a Tuesday, and Avon prefers monthly brochures with no typical weekday at all. Nobody promises a pattern, so look at the dates on the leaflet itself.

Words you will meet

British shoppers say leaflet for the supermarket sheet that drops through the door, catalogue or brochure for the thicker thing from a DIY chain or a beauty direct seller, and offers, or special offers, for what is inside. Loyalty is a card or an app: Clubcard, Nectar, Lidl Plus. People also ask about Click and Collect, a Sunday trading rule that sounds like a bureaucratic invention but is real, and the long weekend known as a bank holiday. Prices are in pounds, and this site does not quote them.

The names that dominate the search box

Groceries come first. Tesco offers lead on size, with 28.5 per cent of Great Britain's grocery market in 2025 per Wikipedia and 4,256 UK stores in February 2026, and want you to unlock Clubcard Prices in the app before scanning at the till. Asda weekly leaflet shoppers use an app with no physical card, while Aldi Specialbuys change on Thursdays and Sundays, and Lidl weekly leaflet runs with the Lidl Plus app. Aldi has 1,106 UK stores, and Lidl has 1,021 in Great Britain.

Away from food, Argos catalogue searches still happen, even though the printed catalogue ended in 2020 after 93 editions. B&M opening hours are a favourite query alongside bank holidays. Studio catalogue belongs to Frasers Group, and B&Q catalogue lovers look for PDFs and free brochures by post. Hobbycraft returns run 28 days, unused and resaleable, with free Click and Collect over 10 pounds.

The trade side matters more than people expect. Booker Wholesale offers and Bestway wholesale brochures serve businesses, and Booker has been part of Tesco since 5 March 2018. Direct-selling and beauty brochures are monthly territory: AVON brochure and Oriflame catalogue searches both mention PDFs, and Oriflame sells online and by direct selling only. Ford offers sit in the automotive pages, with finance via Ford Credit subject to status.

Category hubs, in plain terms

We group the leaflets into six hubs. The supermarkets hub holds the weekly food shop, the home and garden hub covers the sheds and furniture, and the discount and general merchandise hub mixes wholesalers, catalogue shops and pound stores. Beyond those sit health and beauty, department stores and fashion, and auto, sports and leisure. Each hub says openly when it mixes formats.

Sundays, Easter and bank holidays

The Sunday Trading Act 1994 applies in England and Wales. Shops over 280 square metres may open for six hours on a Sunday, between 10am and 6pm for the biggest, and they must close on Easter Sunday. Smaller shops can open freely. Scotland has no equivalent limit, since shops there kept the right to open at any time, and Northern Ireland has separate laws on Sunday opening. Large shops also cannot open on Christmas Day under the Christmas Day (Trading) Act 2004, according to East Cambridgeshire council. The UK also has bank holidays that differ between England and Wales, Scotland and Northern Ireland, and the gov.uk page lists each year's dates.

Christmas turns up in the real queries: Iceland and Morrisons Christmas leaflets, the Avon Christmas catalogue, B&M Christmas opening times and Argos Black Friday 2026, with bank holiday Monday opening times asked about too.

Your rights when a leaflet deal goes wrong

If goods are faulty, the Consumer Rights Act 2015 sets out remedies, and gov.uk says sellers must offer a full refund for faulty goods and let online, mail or phone orders be cancelled within 14 days of receiving the item. Shops often add their own returns window on top, and we quote the store pages where we have checked them. Read the small print about deposits, exclusions and personalised goods before you rely on a return.
