The site would not open when we tried (connection refused), so treat that wording as a secondhand reading of the official page.

Botswana news items in our search results report the opening of Saverite supermarkets in places such as Bobonong and Letlhakane, which fits the cross-border picture. Be careful with store numbers. A LinkedIn profile claims over 90 stores across Southern Africa and directory pages suggest over 145, so we publish neither as fact.

It is also not part of the Shoprite group. Shoprite's low-income chain is a different brand (USave), and Saverite is listed under Massmart, so the old assumption in some listings that it sits under Shoprite does not stand up.

How a franchise supermarket changes what you see

Franchised stores buy through a common supplier network, but the owner runs the shop.
