What Health & Beauty means here
In Saudi Arabia, the Health & Beauty group on AdsSOS is, in practice, a pharmacy group. All four retailers we track in this hub are pharmacies: Al Nahdi Pharmacy, Al-Dawaa Pharmacies, Ghaya Pharmacy and United Pharmacy. What the pharmacies sell, however, goes well beyond medicines: Ghaya's online shop, for example, describes itself as a place to buy medicines together with health, beauty and personal care products.
A market of giants and independents
The Argaam Weekend overview of the sector counts more than 9,000 pharmacy outlets in the Kingdom and calls the market highly fragmented, with a significant share still run by independents. It places Nahdi first, with more than 1,100 pharmacies, and Al Dawaa second with about 900, and says the two leaders together control roughly half of pharmacy retail.
Saudipedia's company profiles fill in the background. Nahdi began in Jeddah in 1986, listed on Tadawul in March 2022 and says its pharmacies reach more than 125 cities and villages. Al-Dawaa began in the Eastern Province in 1993, is headquartered in Al-Khubar, and has been trading on the main market since 14 March 2022 under the symbol 4163.
How the four differ
The two national chains
The Nahdi offers are the most searched in this group. The real queries we see are "nahdi offers today ksa", "nahdi pharmacy offers today" and, in a seasonal twist, "nahdi opening hours ramadan". Nahdi runs the Nuhdeek points programme, which Argaam dates to 2004 and which can be used in the Nahdi app. For express products, returns are accepted within 14 days with a receipt at any Nahdi pharmacy, with exclusions.
The Al-Dawaa offers attract a slightly different crowd: people looking for codes. Searches such as "al dawaa discount code" and "al dawaa pharmacy promo code" appear next to the plain "offers today" queries. Its loyalty scheme is Arbahi, run through the Al-Dawaa app, and it has a reported AlFursan conversion. Returns follow a seven-day window for defective or unsatisfactory products, with several category exclusions.
The smaller and online-led names
Ghaya Pharmacy is searched by location rather than by deal: "ghaya pharmacy near me", "ghaya pharmacy makkah" and "ghaya pharmacy online". The Ghaya Group app works in English and Arabic and supports Apple Pay, and its release notes from December 2020 mention loyalty points shown at checkout, though the terms are not published.
United Pharmacy is the delivery-first option. Its site says it delivers to all cities, offers free delivery above a stated order threshold, accepts Tamara instalments and cash on delivery, and has an app on the App Store and Google Play. For refunds or exchanges you need the purchase invoice, and if you bought a bundled offer, the whole set must be returned. Shoppers search it by city: Jeddah, Riyadh and Dammam.
Timing, Friday hours and Ramadan
Hours matter more in this category than in almost any other, because a pharmacy is often an urgent errand. A search such as "nahdi pharmacy opening time friday" shows that shoppers check the weekend directly, which in the Kingdom means Friday and Saturday. We cannot give a universal timetable, because branch hours differ and the chains publish them per location, so use the store page and the chain's own app before you go.
On the rules side, the Saudi 24-hour operating permit covers business activity between midnight and 5am. Gulf News reports that pharmacies are exempt from the fee attached to it and that the restriction does not apply during Ramadan or the Eid holidays. That is a statement about permits and fees, not a promise that any given branch is open all night.
Who regulates your pharmacy
A 2025 study in the Saudi Pharmaceutical Journal, hosted on PubMed Central, states that community pharmacy regulation currently falls under the Ministry of Health, while arguing for a move to the Saudi Food and Drug Authority. In plain terms: if you have a complaint about a pharmacy, the Ministry of Health is the body the literature points to, and the chain's own customer care is the first step.
Practical ways to save with the Offers pages
- Use the app of the chain you already shop at. Both Nahdi and Al-Dawaa tie points to their apps, so purchases at those chains are the ones that build up value.
- Read the return rules before buying a bundle. United Pharmacy requires the whole offer set back, and the express products at Nahdi and the defective items at Al-Dawaa carry exclusions.
- Look at neighbouring categories too. Many families bundle pharmacy errands with a big shop (see the hypermarkets hub) or a home refresh in Home & Garden.
What shoppers actually ask
The real search suggestions reveal four intents. First, "offers today" for Nahdi and Al-Dawaa. Second, codes and discounts. Third, location and hours, such as "which pharmacy is open 24 hours" and branch searches by city. Fourth, "which pharmacy is cheaper", which no flyer can answer for you, since AdsSOS tracks the published offer sheets and not live shelf pricing.
