Start with the weekend project

Home and garden catalogues in Australia are planning documents. People pick them up on a Thursday and spend the weekend building a deck, fixing a gate or buying a lounge. This hub gathers nine retailers that do very different jobs under one heading, so a quick map is useful before you read any single catalogue.

Big-box hardware and garden: Bunnings Warehouse and the independent network behind Mitre 10 stores. Tradie-style power tools: Sydney Tools and Total Tools, both filed here as tools and hardware. Furniture and interiors: IKEA stores and Amart Furniture. Building products and specialists: Stratco stores for carports and outdoor structures, Doors Plus for doors and fittings, and Clark Rubber for foam, pools and rubber goods. They share a shopper, not a shop floor.

What shoppers actually search

The queries are catalogue-first. People ask for the Bunnings catalogue and specials this week, a PDF of Mitre 10's, and the Amart sale catalogue with its end date. Others look for IKEA's catalogue for 2026 and whether it is free online. Stratco queries mention carports and South Australia. Tool buyers search for Sydney Tools and Total Tools specials and their Sunday opening hours. Nearly every brand also draws an opening hours query, which tells you that weekend access matters more here than in almost any other category.

Independent versus corporate

Mitre 10 is the clearest case. Metcash owns the brand and its stores are independently owned, with more than 400 locations, so the catalogue is shared but each shop sets much of its policy. Mitre 10's own page says returns are handled by the selling store, with no change-of-mind refund obligation and consumer law applying to major problems. Total Tools has been wholly owned by Metcash since 2023, which puts two hardware names under one wholesaler. Bunnings belongs to Wesfarmers, which has owned it since 1994, and it operated 382 stores in 2025 according to Wikipedia. Sydney Tools is a private Australian company with more than ninety stores reported in 2024. Knowing who owns what explains why a promise made in a Bunnings catalogue is more uniform than one in an independent shop.

Price matching and loyalty

Bunnings is best known for its Price Guarantee, described in search listings and a deals blog as beating the same in-stock item by a set margin. Its tie to the Wesfarmers OnePass subscription, with Flybuys earned in store, is reported by Point Hacks. Mitre 10 runs the free Mighty Rewards programme for adults, and Total Tools Insider Rewards appeared in a Metcash campaign in July 2026. IKEA Family is free, with a welcome voucher and points earned per spend, under April 2026 terms. For Sydney Tools we found no readable official price policy, only a store manager quoted in the Border Mail saying they would beat anyone's price. Stratco has no published price match we could find. When we say that, it is a limit of what we saw rather than a claim that none exists.

Returns, deliveries and collection

Home goods come with bulky returns, so policies matter. IKEA takes back unopened items for 365 days and opened items under Test and Try for 60 days, with terms tightened in April 2026 according to news. Amart gives 30 days, but only 48 hours for pillows, mattresses and blinds, and it offers free store pickup except for online exclusives. Clark Rubber allows 30 days with proof of purchase and excludes foam, bedding, cut items and clearance. Stratco limits returns on custom items. Doors Plus excludes custom-made orders and may apply restocking fees. These are the clauses to read before you order anything cut to size.

Clark Rubber offers click and collect with photo ID and limited free delivery above a threshold within 20 km, while Doors Plus charges a standard home delivery fee that rises outside its showroom areas.

Sundays, seasons and timing

Hours vary shop to shop. Stratco pages we saw for Goolwa, Kadina and Gawler show Sunday closed and Saturday 9am to 2pm, which suits a builder who works through the week. IKEA Springvale opens 10am to 7pm on Sundays, and Doors Plus Cannington opens 10am to 4pm. Good Friday and Anzac Day rules differ by state, so a long weekend project needs a shop check first.

Using these catalogues well

Everything is also indexed on the Australian catalogue home page. We do not list prices, only the catalogues and the verified policy facts around them.
