Why is VIVA supermarket so cheap? Start with the format

VIVA is not a hypermarket and does not try to be one. Gulf News reported in November 2018 that Landmark Group launched it as a "food discounter" selling only food, with about 1,200 products per store, and quoted its chief executive calling the concept powerful and disruptive. Images Retail Middle East added that the first store opened at Grand Avenue in Sharjah, that the idea was inspired by a German discount chain, and that its private-label range was pitched at savings of at least 30 per cent. That is launch-era marketing, not a current price guarantee, and we hold no price data, so we make no promise about any item.

Short answer to "viva supermarket owner" and "which country": it belongs to Landmark Group, the Dubai-based retail company behind Home Centre and Splash. The official website now also links sister VIVA sites in Oman and Saudi Arabia.

VIVA offers catalogue: a clock you can set

VIVA is the most predictable publisher in our UAE listings. Every recent edition is a seven-day, 20-page leaflet. "VIVA offers" runs 15 to 21 October 2026; "Big Save Days" ran 8 to 14 October and 1 to 7 October; "Lowest Price Deals" ran 24 to 30 September, 17 to 23 September and 10 to 16 September. Each starts on a Thursday and ends on a Wednesday, so editions listed on AdsSOS usually start on a Thursday. Catalogue start dates differ between editions, so rely on the validity dates printed on each edition rather than on a fixed weekday.

The homepage carries a "Great Deals. Every Week." heading and a Weekly Promotion banner, plus banners for "Buy More Save More" and "New Arrivals". It also links a Promotions page. If you search "viva supermarket offers today" or "viva supermarket catalogue pdf", the edition above is the closest scanned equivalent we hold.

Own brands you will see on the shelf

Own brands are the core of the model. The 2018 launch coverage described the range as private label, hand-picked and sourced from Europe and Asia. It also names a distribution centre in the Jebel Ali Free Zone.

Good to know before you shop

On the pages we read, VIVA showed no loyalty card, mobile app or delivery service. Points, digital coupons and delivery services may be offered in some places and not in others. VIVA timings and opening hours

"Viva supermarket opening hours" and "viva supermarket open 24 hours" both appear in search suggestions. No hours were visible on the homepage, and the Store Finder is the place to look for each branch. Since the 2019 expansion story describes small stores of around 6,000 square feet in dense neighbourhoods such as Dubai Marina and Jumeirah Lakes Towers, hours may differ by site. The federal government weekend is Friday afternoon, Saturday and Sunday since January 2022, but private companies choose their own days, so a shop is not closed just because offices are.

Returns: the "Replace or Refund" page

The conditions for returning or exchanging goods, and for any price-matching promise, are decided by the retailer within the limits of local consumer law. Read the conditions at the till or on the receipt, and keep proof of purchase. Under UAE consumer guidance quoted by Khaleej Times in May 2026, a defective product can be replaced, repaired or refunded even if a no-returns sign is displayed, the shelf price is final with no card surcharge, and a reduction within a week of purchase lets you claim the difference. Keep the receipt, and use the Ministry of Economy line, 800 1222, if a store refuses a valid claim.

How big is VIVA?

Four stores opened in Sharjah, Dubai and Ajman in 2018, with eleven more planned. By September 2019 the 16th store had opened in Dubai Marina, in a 6,000 square foot unit, and the first with an organic food range, with five more planned for that year.
